Weddings…

I for my first meaningful post, I’ll post about my recent wedding…

After mulling the prospects of getting married over the past year, once SOE’s Fan Faire 2007 was announced for a date in Las Vegas, I decided it was time to marry my woman.

After planning the trip and popping the question, I had conversation with the community manager for EverQuest II, Grimwell and some other people about who was going. I mentioned my intentions to marry, and well, from there it got crazy. After some wrangling with SOE’s PR department, numerous emails and costume ordering, the date was set. It was to happen at the banquet scheduled for the last night of Fan Faire, in front of 1,500ish gamers. LOL. Well after much stress, running around and rehearsing, it went off without a hitch.

Here’s SOE’s footage of the fiasco:

All I gotta say, it was quite the nerd dream wedding :P

Our outfits were ordered from lrpstore.com in the UK. I have to say, they were extremely fast, accommodating and professional. I didn’t think I’d find ANYTHING WHAT SO EVER that wouldn’t be cheesy after a few weeks of looking…I’m so glad I found them.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get any of the raw footage SOE took, got some pics tho.

I’ve been lazy about getting the actual footage someone took with my camcorder out, the music was not what’s shown in SOE’s footage, but they don’t own rights for what was used :P

The intro was a bagpipe piece from Braveheart, and the exit piece was the theme from Gladiator (Lisa Gerrard is like my all time favorite).

We were supposed to leave for home the next day, we didn’t even attempt to get ready to catch the plane. I called to reschedule the flight with US Air. They told me I had to call United since they basically had just sold us seats on a United flight. I called United and they wanted to charge me twice the amount of new tickets on a flight the next day. Needless to say, I told em to keep the money and screw themselves and bought new tickets.

The following few weeks after that there were various postings, articles etc all over the internet. Was quite fun to be on the front page of yahoo’s entertainment section. I showed up to work and people were joking around with me and calling me a celebrity before I found out I was on the front page of yahoo. LOL, I was pretty confused, and extremely sleepy…so it took a bit before I figured out what they were talking about.

It was pretty kewl getting a table up front for my guild mates and friends…

All in all, it was an amazing experience, and I have to REALLY REALLY thank Scott Hartsman, Taina Rodriguez and Grimwell for making it all happen. Oh yeah, and a big special thanks to Emily, the tradeskill dev (DominoDev) for decorating my house in game for the in game ceremony. She did a freaking awesome job.
