EQ2 Down again…
Wow, there seems to be some troubles brewing lately over at SOE with EQ2. Kinda funny, the EQ2 servers are 99% of the time pretty stable (at least the ones I’ve played on, Guk, Nagafen and Kithicor). So going down in during prime time is kinda odd.

Since the Rise of Kunark release I personally have experienced massive amounts of lag. I sort of expected it with everyone hitting the expansion, but in some areas it hasn’t gotten any better for me. Now, I have a decent machine, P4 2.8ghz, ATI x1650 512mb video card and 2 gigs of ok ram. I have had the most awful problems entering Teren’s Grasp lately or getting near Dreg’s Landing. As soon as I hit the ramp at Teren’s, or fly in on a Sokokar to either location it’s a slide show worse than Qeynos Harbor usually. At times, I’ve gotten up and come back a minute or two later because my whole system will lock up just about. Broker has been really bad lately, I’ve been having to wait a good 30 seconds or more to put another item on the broker. 
Hopefully it’s just some database work they need to do to optimize stuff for the influx of people from releasing the expansion.
So, I decided it’s time to get off AGP and join the rest of the world with PCIE. I ordered a new system (see my FedEx sux post), and am waiting patiently for it. My duo partner says I won’t have as much of a problem with what I’m getting since it’s pretty similar to what she’s got. I bought myself the E6750 2.66 ghz dual core (and yes it’s not DUELcore, god that irritates me everytime I see someone say that), 1333 fsb with 2 gigs of 800mhz DDR and an nVidia 8800GT with 512mb of ram. This is more power than my laptop is running on (not by much) so I figure since I have no problems with the expansion playing on my laptop, this will suffice. I figured I wanted something that I could play at high quality or better on (which I used to before Kingdom of Sky was released with lesser hardware) for both EQ2 AND have my stuff maxed out for EVE with the release of Trinity.
Anyways, seems something really serious happened over there, all the EQ2 servers are locked at the moment. I hope it’s a brief outtage. They seem to have had some issues the last couple updates getting the servers up in the mornings within their estimated window of one hour. Bit of a bummer, but knowing some of the staff over there, I guarantee they’re working really hard at getting things up and running and trying to find a permanent solution to the problems they seem to be having lately.
Hope you guys don’t get stuck working too late tonight. Hopefully you just need to feed the hamsters and everything will get back up and running shortly.
