Me and my Motorola-Q part 2…

So I just got a call from Verizon telling me that I can upgrade my phone early. Guess they realize the Q sucks :P I felt like the Verizon guy though when they called me, the delay between the call being switched from their automatic dialer to the telemarketer was a bit lengthy, so she didn’t realize I had answered. I guess I should have said “can you hear me now?” :P

They’re trying to get me to get a Blackberry Pearl. They look alright, and I guess it does what my phone does now, but, I’m wondering if I can transfer my applications over to it that I purchased (since the Q comes with absolutely nothing installed but Windows CE). I’m not sure if the phone is thin enough for me either. I also need to see if the charger I have for my Q will work for that thing, as well as my bluetooth headset. Headset probably will, not that I use it a whole lot. I hope the battery lasts longer too.

She was telling me about some email crap that send your email to your phone, but the phone will only store 10 emails…wtf? Why would I want a phone that only stores 10 emails if I even bother to use such a thing (which I won’t, I just use yahoo’s page, they have their mail setup for PDAs). Really the only thing I care about is getting the phone to act like a modem so I can get on the internet wherever I am. I often will have to SSH into work and do something when I’m either not in the office or not at home. I always have my laptop with me for the most part, so doing something at work on call is pretty easy.

I might do it, it’ll cost me $179, then a $50 rebate to mail in, and of course another contract. I don’t have a problem getting a new contract, Verizon’s service has been pretty good for me for 8 years now, so I don’t see a reason to change to a different provider. The only problem I’ve had with Verizon is the fact that their “broadband” is actually less than 56.6K most of the time. But whatever, at least it’s getting me online when I need to.

Wonder if I can get a break on my monthly bill. Hopefully I can trim up the $162 I spend a month for their “broadband” plus phone service. I can’t really see anything wrong with upgrading from a phone I hate. The Motorola-Q is a giant flop in my opinion. It’s quite buggy and slow.

  1. So I checked out the Blackberry Pearl, and it’s really small and completely not what I need in terms of being functionally practical. I’d rather get one of the Samsung dealies that look like my Q.

  2. You..spend…wha??? per month? That’s fucking insane, you internet junky.
